   @LeatherBee yes but Fredi was picked in 1996 and she brings a certain originality and hardcore grace to the role. She will always be the original Joanne.

    Everyone says that you can never beat the originals but.. I’m a huge Tracie Thoms fan so I was thrilled to know that she was in the movie I absolutely love her in it, I think she was perfect for the role. Plus her voice always sends chills through my spine, especially when she sings “I’d fall for her still anyhow.” I like Fredi too, but for me Tracie will always be the real Joanne.

    Wasn’t Daphine who said she was too old? Because of the line, “I’m 19″. I believe this Joanne didn’t do it because she was pregnant?
